P. H. Lin - Playwright

From the NY Off-Broadway production
BARMAN: Edwin Cahill, ZELDA: Gardner Reed

“Kudos to playwright Patricia Lin for sensitively and creatively culling a great bulk of biographical material into a meaningful depiction.” – Chicago Critic

“Zelda at the Oasis is a gripping, emotional performance that speculates on the reason for the torment suffered by Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald, woman who wanted something out of life that she could not have.” Theatreworld Internet Magazine

“P. H. Lin is one of the rising young Jewish American playwrights, and HOW FORTUNATE for New York City theatergoers that her latest effort has come to town!” – All About Jewish Theatre

From MD Venus Theatre Production
BARMAN: Davis Hasty, ZELDA: Mundy Spears

“P.H. Lin gives us a well-constructed, absorbing play!” – NY Theater Scene

“For anyone interested in 1920’s American culture and particularly the Fitzgeralds, Zelda at the Oasis is a great fit!” – Theatre-Is-Easy

TOP PICK!  P.H.Lin had a daunting task, transposing the lives of these two fervent, larger than life artists into a satisfying dramatic production.  Her Zelda reveals the artist’s inner life and journey with haunting passages for this often disregarded other half of the infamous writing duo.  The segments feel authentic and the transitions flow wistfully in a melodic interplay of scenes poignant enough to leave you as breathless and fluttery as Zelda ‘discovering sweet rhythms,’  who describes ‘feeling her demons locked in every chord. “Breathless.”  – DC Theatre Scene

Reviews from the Theater-Going Public

Great way to learn about a woman of history. I saw Zelda in NYC and thoroughly enjoyed the script and production.. It is clever, entertaining, and educational about a somewhat enigmatic character. by Linda Block

I saw this play both at its premiere in MD, and also Off-Broadway. Both productions were memorable! A smart, well-written script that is engaging, fast-paced and totally engrossing. This piece makes for simply “good theater”! by Jane Pack

You never are quite sure what to expect in an off Broadway production, but I couldn’t have been more impressed. The dialogue was wonderfully written and the casting superb. I highly recommend  it . by Rick Schnier

Had a blast working on the New York premiere of this play about Zelda Fitzgerald.

Pathos, passion and intrigue What an absolutely thrilling play – full of passion, pathos and intrigue. There is a very short list of play that I would travel a certain distance to see performed anywhere. This is definitely one of them. I saw the performance in New York City and it was fabulous. by Leil Lowndes

I had the chance to both read this and see it in production, and I was charmed by its elegance and imaginativeness. It has a role for a a strong female lead, and whether or not you are familiar with F. Scott and/or Zelda, the main character exists wonderfully in her own right.  The play takes place in a bar, and both my stepmother and I felt we were right in that bar with her. by Henry Kimmel

Great/Perfect Bravo!  Well Written!  I was excited to see a performance, here in NY!  The artists were Amazing!  I loved it!!  I encourage you to read it & see it in a performance, for yourself!  by Germaine Goodson

Mesmerizing performance! Wonderful in every way! Even if you did not know the story of F Scott & Zelda you would be totally mesmerized by this thought provoking production. It draws you into the mind set of Zelda and you feel as though you are not watching a play but instead experiencing life as Zelda! by Ava Shulman
